An absolutely stunning antique ancestral portrait housed in an oversized and deeply detailed oval wood frame with extraordinary warmth, depth, and presence.
This beautiful late Victorian to early Edwardian portrait features a dignified woman rendered in soft sepia tones beneath original flat matte glass. The frame is exceptional in person — richly layered with ornate raised molding, scrolling detail, and a warm faux burl walnut finish that creates remarkable architectural presence on the wall.
The reverse still retains an old handwritten provenance note reading:
“Belonged to RE Mariah Davis, relative of Selma Gilbert Billett”
