An exceptional early studio pottery oil lamp signed "Andy," attributed to noted potter Andy Cochran, founder of Salmon Falls Stoneware.
This charming handmade stoneware lamp features a hand-painted blue fish motif on a cream crackle-glazed body with an applied handle. The lamp retains its vintage Hong Kong burner and clear glass chimney, creating a beautiful blend of folk art pottery and functional Americana.
Early pieces signed simply "Andy" represent some of Cochran's earliest work, produced before Salmon Falls Stoneware became an established pottery studio. These pieces are increasingly difficult to find and appeal to collectors of American studio pottery, folk art, and early New England stoneware.
Measurements:
• Base diameter: approximately 6 inches
• Base with burner: approximately 6.5 inches tall
• Overall height with chimney: approximately 14 inches
Maker:
Andy Cochran
Founder of Salmon Falls Stoneware
Era:
Likely late 1970s to early 1980s
Materials:
Stoneware pottery
Metal burner
Glass chimney
Condition:
Very good vintage condition. The stoneware base is free of chips and cracks. The clear glass chimney has no chips or cracks observed. Burner shows age-appropriate oxidation and surface wear consistent with vintage use. Please review all photographs carefully as they are considered part of the description.
Vintage Studio Pottery:
Studio pottery pieces were individually handcrafted in small quantities and often reflect the artist's personal style and development. Early signed examples by established potters are particularly desirable because they represent formative work created before broader commercial production.
Oil Lamp Information:
This lamp retains its vintage Hong Kong burner and clear glass chimney. The burner assembly displays expected age-related patina and oxidation that contribute to its authentic vintage character.
A beautiful display piece for collectors of studio pottery, Salmon Falls Stoneware, folk art, coastal décor, primitive interiors, and vintage lighting.
Please Note
I am an antique and vintage seller. All vintage and antique items have flaws. That is the nature and charm of aged and well-loved decor. If you are looking for pristine new decor, please do not purchase vintage or antique items from my shop. Everything I carry will show signs of age, use, and history. Please look closely at all photographs and read the description carefully before purchasing.
